Addacolor is a mix of UV stable resin and double coated coloured natural aggregates creating vibrant resin bound surfacing options.

Addacolor retains all of the benefits of our standard resin bound paving and is ideally suited to those projects that require vibrant colour both inside and out. Addacolor is UV stable and ideal for demarcation, logos, patterns and designs as well as regular projects associated with resin bound surfacing such as footpaths, playgrounds, swimming pool surrounds, courtyards and other pedestrian schemes.

Using templates, our approved contractors can create intricate patterns and wording to any size in vibrant colour combinations.

A range of 12 standard colours are available, however, special colours can be supplied on request. We can match RAL colours to create a bespoke logo or match a corporate colour scheme. This product is only available in a 3mm stone blend semi-porous and as such is not SuDS compliant.

Surface Course

3mm aggregate formulation minimum depth 12mm. Hand applied and trowelled to a smooth finish by Addagrip approved installers.

Binder Course

A 50mm depth of AC 14 Open Surface asphalt concrete max 160/220 pen to BS EN 13108-1:2006 (Bituminous Macadam) or 50mm depth of Terrabound base.
Laid by others in a well compacted layer to a minimum fall of 1.5% (1 in 66).

Sub Base

A 150mm Depth of well compacted, non-frost susceptible Type 1 granular sub-base to SHW clause 803 or locally available secondary or recycled aggregates which comply with the requirements of the SHW for sub-bases.

Laid by others in well compacted layers to a minimum fall of 1.5% (1 in 66).

Membrane

A geotextile membrane to prevent upward migration of fine soil particles (optional).

What’s The Difference Between Resin Bound And Resin Bonded?

There are two different systems that use resin to fix gravel aggregates to create decorative surfacing. These are Resin Bound porous paving and Resin Bonded paving and whilst similar in name they have different properties, application methods and aesthetics. Resin bound surfacing consists of aggregate mixed with resin in specific blends using specific aggregate to resin ratios. The material is trowelled down to a smooth finish similar to a screed (with no loose stones). Depths are specified depending on aggregate size, normally 12mm, 16mm, 18mm or 24mm. Resin bonded surfacing is a scatter system which provides texture and the appearance of loose gravel. A layer of resin is applied to a suitable surface laid to falls and covered with loose aggregate. Once cured the remaining loose stones are removed. Thickness is governed by aggregate size. i.e. 1-3mm aggregate will have a nominal depth of 4mm.

What’s The Lifespan Of Resin Bound Surfacing?

Our range of Resin Bound systems have an anticipated lifespan of up to 25 years depending on product and usage. We have a selection of Product Guarantees ranging from 5 years for Stonebound, 10 years for Terrabase Rustic and Terrabase Classic, 25 years for our BBA range.

Are our resin surfacing systems solvent free?

Addagrip’s Resin Bound and Resin Bonded external surfacing systems do not contain non-aqueous/non-polar solvents as part of the product formulation, ensuring that they are solvent free. Please note: small quantities of a proprietary solvent mix are offered to contractors to aid in the cleaning of tools and equipment. As this solvent mix will damage the resin surfacing, it is always recommended that tool cleaning is carried out infrequently (i.e. only at the end of application sessions), and in a well ventilated area a suitable distance away from any freshly-laid material.
