Addagrip Terraco are delighted to have been involved in the resin bonded surfacing element for the redevelopment of the historic Battersea Power Station, on the banks of the River Thames, London. Development of the former Power Station includes a newly landscaped area featuring beautiful mature trees, large lawned spaces, perennial planting and Addastone Plus Resin Bonded surfacing has been installed for the paving surrounding the iconic building.
Addagrip approved contractor DCM Surfaces Ltd was appointed by main contractor Maylim to install Addastone Plus resin bonded paving to create hard wearing, seamless, natural aggregate pedestrian areas for the riverfront walkway.
The client was looking for a decorative paving offering offer a slip resistant finish that would be robust enough for the high volume of foot traffic along the riverfront. The benefit of Addastone Plus is that its new improved installation process means that the resin bonded system no longer requires sealing of the the surface before application of the resin and aggregates, ensuring faster installation and reduced costs.
The asphalt surface was prepared with a process of Vacuum Assisted Captive Shot Blasting to remove dirt and residue. This enhanced preparation method ensures a good key for the resin bonded system and reduces installation time on site. The Addastone Plus resin bonded system was installed with a hard wearing 1-3mm Chinese Bauxite aggregate, complementing the grey paving feature at the front of the former power station.
The installation was completed in April 2022.
