Resin bound walkways for stock pond in London park

Wandsworth Common

Resin bound pathways for Wandsworth Common

Addagrip approved contractor Limegate Ltd was appointed to carry out the resurfacing of the existing footpath by the stock pond in Wandsworth Common, situated in the London Borough of Wandsworth, South London.

Surfacing requirement

The park’s pathways, consisting of old asphalt, were due for replacement and the Council were looking for a porous natural looking aggregate surface that could be used on the existing paths but cope with the areas where mature tree roots had broken through the paving. The system needed to be low maintenance, hard wearing and suitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users, but be sympathetic to the leafy public park environment.

Terrabase Rustic is a patented ‘no-dig’ system that can be installed with minimum disruption. Over 450m2 of 6-10mm Rustic Oak aggregate was installed around the perimeter of the stock pond. The system was applied over the existing regulated paths and incorporated a root protection system in specific areas to cope with the mature tree roots. The paths were edged with an AluExcel aluminium landscape edging system.

The finished walkways offer a seamless, low maintenance surface that provide excellent access all year round for pedestrians and wheelchair users.
