Over 300m2 of BBA approved Addaset Resin Bound surfacing was selected to provide stunning new paving for the surfacing for a new project at the University of Cambridge.
The North Range of Buildings (NRB) project is within the New Museums Site (NMS) in central Cambridge. The project provides new and refurbished space to accommodate a new student services centre and examination halls and is the second phase of the NMS master plan to improve the public realm of this important central site.
Working for Kier Group plc, Addagrip approved contractor Colne Contracts was asked by the client, who they have worked with on a number of projects over the years, to install a 6mm Addaset Maple Gold blend in keeping with the brickwork and heritage considerations of this site. Over 300m2 of the seamless, porous resin bound product was installed on the pathways and ramps to provide a hard wearing, decorative finish with good slip resistance for the narrow walkways.
Access was challenging as large delivery vehicles were prohibited so the materials had to be transferred to a smaller lorry prior to reaching the site. Working on a busy site is also never easy as there is limited space and everybody is rushing to get their own jobs completed. However, work was completed to schedule and the result is a sympathetic surfacing solution blending old and new buildings.
The installation was completed in April 2019.
