Addagrip Terrabound resin bound was selected to provide a low maintenance, decorative surface for the footbridge to Colchester Castle in Essex.
Colchester Castle is the largest Norman Keep in Europe and dates back to 1076. It was constructed on the foundations of the Temple of Claudius, built when Colchester was the first Roman capital of Britain. When it came to resurfacing the existing concrete footbridge it was important that the new paving was in keeping with this heritage site, offering a natural looking surface.
Surfacing requirement
Addagrip approved contractor Clearpave Surfacing Ltd were asked to install 75 sqm of resin bound paving to the footbridge. Resin bound Terrabound was selected in a Chocolate Buff blend to provide a hard wearing, low maintenance, seamless surface suitable for wheelchair access and the high volumes of foot traffic to this popular visitor attraction.
The 75m surfacing installation had to be undertaken at the end of the day after the castle had closed and was completed in one night to avoid any day joints and further disruption to visitors.
The installation was completed in June 2015.
