Terrabase Rustic provides non slip walkways for property in Warwickshire

Hillside Pathways For Tudor Barn

Resin bound sloping pathways

As part of the overall landscaping project at this property in Wixford  in Warwickshire, Addagrip approved contractor Nicholsons was asked to install several resin bound access pathways into a particularly steep hillside.

Surfacing requirement

This was a challenging aspect of the build and the client, who has young children, specified a non-slip, hard wearing surface that did not detract from the landscape. The aim was to achieve a natural aggregate surface without the issues of loose gravel being displaced and migrating to the bottom of the hill.

Terrabase Rustic, a resin porous bound system in a 6-10mm aggregate blend, seemed the ideal option. The client selected a Rustic Beach colour which sat nicely with the brick of the refurbished barn but did not stand out too much in this prominent position.

Th no-dig option ensured a non-invasive installation process without the need for large machinery. The main challenge of the project was the need to carry the resin up and down the 85 steps in buckets to fill the treads.

Over 300m of Terrabase Rustic in a Beach blend was installed over the hillside, creating decorative, natural looking paths with good permeability and slip resistance for safe access to the hillside garden all year round. The client was very happy with the result.

Work was completed in 2018.
