Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing is an innovative, ‘first of its kind’ thermal energy harvesting resin bound permeable paving solution. This product has all the benefits of a resin bound porous surfacing system with the addition of heat capturing technology to generate free hot water for residential and commercial properties.

Addagrip EcoHeat surfacing captures free solar thermal energy for hot water, heating, cooling and refrigeration demands. The innovative system can be used with an air source heat pump and thermal battery storage to capture and store the energy for peak demand usage for maximum energy efficiency.

When the weather warms up, the Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing will be heated naturally by the sun, and, with a heat pump installed, the heat from the resin bound can be harnessed to help supply hot water for the home or other buildings such as hospitals and schools. A source of free energy for hot water.

In colder weather, the surface senses temperature decreases and automatically warms the resin bound surface using a renewable heat source. With the EcoHeat Surfaces Patented pipework installed under the Resin Bound surface, Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing takes heat out of buildings via an air source heat pump. Whenever temperatures drop to 0ºC this heat will be used to warm the surface area around buildings to ensure no ice or snow build up.

Solar Panels and Batteries

Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing can also be linked with solar panels to make it even more energy efficient – no need for gas, thus making it very carbon neutral. The system can be combined with the latest thermal battery storage for ultimate longer lasting usage.

Resin Bound benefits

The resin bound surface is permeable so there is no surface water, and it is SuDS compliant when used on a porous base build up.

The finish is seamless and has excellent slip resistance making it comfortable and safe underfoot, especially in cold weather when recycled heating will provide frost- and ice-free paving.

The surface is low maintenance, hard wearing and available in a range of decorative colours selected to maximise heat capture and retention.

Applications

Suitable for both commercial and residential schemes, Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing can be used for all external areas such as playgrounds, footpaths, steps, slopes, light vehicle car parks as well as domestic driveways, patios, paths, pool surrounds.

It is ideal for surfacing around hospitals, schools, universities, hotels, stations, sports venues and commercial buildings for energy efficiency and safety. For example, hotel car parks could be heated using stored heat from grey wastewater from showers, basins and baths to create ice and snow free parking areas and perimeter paths.

As well as heating water for domestic use from driveways, energy harvested from surfacing around hot tubs and swimming pools can be used to heat the water using green energy.

Ideal for rural locations or heritage projects where access to energy sources is limited.

With our ever changing climate we can provide a reactive surface ensuring a safer and energy efficient solution helping the fight on ever increasing fuel bills and reaching net zero targets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can the Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing be used?

On external surfaces for public areas such as hotels, hospitals, supermarkets, train stations and platforms, schools and residential houses for driveways, pool and hot tub surrounds to create a safe non slip surface and combines green energy as well.

What renewable heat sources can be used?

All Renewable Heat Sources can be used, such as Heat Pumps, Solar Panels, Biomass Etc.

Will Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing supply my heating and hot water?

Set up with an air source heat pump and thermal battery, the system would be capable of supplying heating and hot water and save on fuel bills. The system will not supply all of your hot water as this system will depend on how much sun is on the surface. It will pre-heat water in the same way as a solar panel.

Do I need a hot water cylinder with the Addagrip EcoHeat system?

The Addagrip EcoHeat surface is installed onto a suitable base at a depth between 30-45 mm, the Pipework is covered with a larger base stone and the top coat is installed to specific depth and colour choice , it can the be connected to a thermal battery with can store excess heat for peak demand usage and there would be no need for a hot water cylinder.

How long will the Addagrip EcoHeat system last?

Life expectancy on this system is 25 years.

Is resin bound surfacing permeable?

Resin bound surfacing is permeable offering SuDS compliant paving for driveways and porous surfacing for Green and Blue Roof projects

What pipework and depth of pipes are laid in the resin bound surface

The Pipework used is a PEX pipe and is laid around 15-20mm under the resin bound surface.

Can Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing be used on steps and slopes?

Yes, the resin bound finish offers a smooth, non-slip surface all year round and can be applied to slopes, steps, podium decks etc.

Is resin bound surfacing slippery?

Our resin bound system installations are finished with a layer of glass grit which will offer good slip resistance. This finish does wear away in time but slip resistance will be maintained from the exposed bound aggregate surface.

Can I have an Addagrip EcoHeat Surfacing system designed specifically for my needs?

Yes. Our specialist will arrange a site visit, discuss your requirements and design a bespoke system for you
