Addaset resin bound permeable paving for Great House Farm residential development in Wales

St Fagans Eco Village Cardiff

St Fagans Eco Village Cardiff

We are thrilled to have been involved in this project at the award winning Eco Village in St Fagans, Cardiff with our BBA approved Addaset resin bound permeable surfacing system.

Addagrip approved contractor Thortech Ltd had the most amazing opportunity to work with LivEco, leading exponents of ecological and low energy house building, refurbishments, and retro fits, on the new development named as ‘Great House Farm’.

LivEco deliver sustainable homes at an affordable price which are designed and built to high environmental standards. The properties generate energy by using slimline PV panels, store energy in an in-house battery and can even transfer any excess to charge electric cars.

Surfacing requirements

In keeping with the requirement for high quality materials, the Thortech team installed BBA approved Addaset resin bound surfacing to create smooth, decorative, hard wearing permeable pathways and access roads across the village. A total of 325m2 of a 6mm blend New Scandinavian Pearl was installed for Phase 1 of the project to provide a stunning natural aggregate finish with excellent porosity. The Addaset resin bound system also carries a BRE Environmental Product Declaration.

The Welsh Housing Minister Rebecca Evans visited the homes and commented:

“The development showcases how developers can go over and above what is required to deliver new homes here in Wales which are as sustainable and ecologically sound as possible”.

The Phase 1 resin bound surfacing installation was completed in January 2023
