Resin bonded Addastone Plus pedestrian paving for Scottish visitor attraction

Glasgow Science Centre

Resin bonded at Glasgow Science Centre

Addagrip Terraco is pleased that its Addastone Plus resin bonded surfacing system was selected for the new walkways at the iconic Glasgow Science Centre, a family visitor attraction located in the Clyde Waterfront Regeneration area on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland.

Surfacing requirement

The existing pathway paving was in need of revitalisation and the client was looking for a natural aggregate finish that would be in keeping the contemporary buildings and offer a resilient surface for this busy approach to the Science Centre and IMAX theatre.

Addagrip approved contractor Resarf Flooring Ltd was invited by Luddon Construction to install an Addastone Plus resin bonded surfacing system in a 1-3mm Guyanan Bauxite. The existing surface was a slabbed walkway that was removed and replaced with a well compacted AC6 surface tar on top of an AC20 base tar ready for the resin bonded finish.

The Addastone Plus scatter system offers a seamless natural aggregate finish and the selected Bauxite stone has a high PSV value to provide a high skid resistance for durability and safety.

The 600m2 installation was carried out over a period of one week and completed in September 2021.
